The City & Guilds courses we offer are taken from the City & Guilds 6218. The 6218 runs as 4 Full Qualifications that require the candidate to build up QCF Credits in order to attian each qualification or move through the qualifications over time.

The 4 Full Qualifications are below:

 6218 qualification structure - Rules of Combination examples

To achieve the Entry Level 3 Award in Basic Construction Skills, learners must achieve 8 credits (minimum of 2 credits must be achieved from units 001 to 009). For example:

  • four Entry Level 3 units, each with a value of two credits, or
  • two Entry Level 3 units each at two credits and one level 1 unit with a value of four credits.

To achieve the Level 1 Award in Basic Construction Skills, learners must achieve 8 credits (minimum of 4 credits must be achieved from units 101 to 119). For example:

  • two Entry Level 3 units, each with a value of two credits, and one Level 1 unit with a value of four credits, or
  • two Level 1 units, each with a value of four credits.

To achieve the Level 1 Certificate in Basic Construction Skills, learners must achieve 13 credits. For example:

  • two Entry Level 3 units, each with a value of two credits, two Level 1 units, each with a value of four credits and one Level 2 unit with a value of one credit or
  • three Level 1 units, each with a value of 4 credits and one Level 2 unit with a value of one credit.

To achieve the Level 1 Diploma in Basic Construction Skills, learners must achieve 37 credits. For example:

  • four Entry Level 3 units, each with a value of two credits, seven Level 1 units, each with a value of four credits and one Level 2 unit with a value of one credit or
  • nine Level 1 units, each with a value of 4 credits and one Level 2 unit with a value of one credit.

Example:

One example of a learner acheiveing the 6218-02 Level 1 Award in Basic Construction Skills would be to complete to following:

  • 1 week plumbing course (Unit 108)
  • 1 week tiling course (Unit 119)

So the candidate would only spend two weeks at our centre and achieve a full qualification (City & Guilds 6218-02 Level 1 Award in Basic Construction Skills) 

Plus two City & Guilds units of accreditation (Unit 108 & Unit 119)
