Thinking about a kitchen-fitting career? Our introductory course could be a great next step

Picture the scene: you’ve decided that you would probably like to learn a trade for the next chapter of your working life, and you have zoomed in on kitchen fitting as one of the possibilities.

Or perhaps you’re already looking to fit your own kitchen, but you’re thinking about whether it could be wise to go further than this, and to start fitting other people’s kitchens for a living?

There are many excellent reasons to consider life as a kitchen fitter

Whatever the particular “background” on which you are considering entering the kitchen fitting trade, there are certainly some great reasons to do so.

After all, there are always people out there who are seeking to have their kitchens upgraded or renovated. It is a professional path, then, that would likely mean consistent demand for your skills and services, as well as good earning potential and opportunities for career advancement.

To ascertain whether this is a route you should take, you might have already done some independent research into the profession. You may have also assessed your present skills and interest in light of what the role requires, in addition to exploring kitchen fitting courses.

Why might you be interested in our five-day introductory kitchen fitting course?

As aforementioned, you may be seeking to fit your own kitchen to a satisfactory standard. In that case, our five-day intensive introductory kitchen fitting course is likely to be a superb match to your needs, as it is designed to provide students with the relevant knowledge and skills.

However, if you have higher ambitions in mind of eventually installing kitchens on a professional basis, you will be pleased to learn that many of our previous students have gone on to do exactly this.

Perhaps you have existing competencies and experiences in other trades such as plastering, plumbing, tiling, and/or carpentry? If so, this course can tie in with those, providing a means of expanding your skillset as you consider whether to pursue a career as a fully-fledged kitchen fitter.

The capabilities you can expect to gain through our five-day kitchen fitting training

Running from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm each day, this course will give you the opportunity to fit a full corner kitchen, complete with base and wall units, plinths, worktops, and a sink and hob.

This course will take you through the process of designing a kitchen in accordance with the room provided. It will be necessary for the base units to be levelled and planned to a design.

You will be trained, too, in the effective use of professional kitchen fitting tools such as jigsaws, circular saws and routers. Indeed, much of the course will be dedicated to the processes of gaining routering skills, setting up the machine, and completing the kitchen worktop “mason’s mitre” corner joint.

As the training continues, you can also expect to get to grips with the shaping of end panels around skirting board profiles, the fitting of plinths and cornice, the construction of units, and the installation of cupboards including doors and handles.

Even by the general standards of intensive kitchen fitting courses, then, this one will cover a lot of ground! As a result, you can expect to gain competence and confidence as a learner, along with a greater sense of the future direction you may wish your career to take.

To learn more about what this course consists of, please click through to the relevant page of the YTA website, before reaching out to us directly. Although this course can be booked online, you are also welcome to do so over the phone, by calling 01274 682199.
