NVQ Level 2 OSAT: Assessment in Your Workplace
YTA’s On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) route is for experienced tradespeople who want to work towards an NVQ while continuing their normal work. An assessor visits you on site or on suitable domestic projects to build evidence of your occupational competence.
YTA normally requires at least three years of relevant trade experience. Your assessor will check the work you carry out, the qualification requirements and whether you can provide suitable workplace evidence before agreeing the route.
How Workplace Assessment Works
The assessor agrees an assessment plan, observes relevant work and gathers evidence such as photographs, videos, discussion and supporting records. Training may be identified where needed. YTA’s usual programme involves four to six visits over around ten weeks, but the actual timescale depends on suitable work being available and all required evidence being completed.
OSAT is available for wall and floor tiling, plastering, bricklaying, carpentry and joinery. Ask about your trade, assessment area, availability and current fees, or call 01274 682199.
Would Assessment at the Centre Suit You Better?
If you have at least five years of relevant experience, the EWPA route may be suitable after a skills check. This normally involves one or two assessment days at YTA in Bradford, plus preparation and supporting evidence. The plastering EWPA takes two assessment days.
An appropriate NVQ can support a CSCS card application, subject to the scheme’s other requirements. See the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker requirements. A qualification does not automatically issue a card.
