YTA Training offers practical MOD resettlement courses for service leavers, veterans and Armed Forces personnel who are looking to retrain in construction, property maintenance or hands-on trade skills.

MOD Resettlement And ELCAS Funding

YTA Training can accept MOD/resettlement funding arrangements where these are approved through the relevant MOD or service leaver process.

However, YTA Training does not currently offer ELCAS-supported courses.

This is because the Enhanced Learning Credits scheme is designed to support higher-level learning at Level 3 or above.

Most YTA practical trade courses are designed as beginner, career-change or practical skills routes, with selected Level 1 qualification options and NVQ Level 2 assessment routes for experienced workers.

In construction, Level 3 normally sits within more advanced craft training and is not usually the correct starting point for a beginner or early-stage career changer.

If you are unsure what funding you can use, please speak to your MOD resettlement adviser or relevant education/resettlement contact before booking. YTA Training can provide course details and invoices where required.

Does YTA offer MOD resettlement courses?

Yes. YTA Training offers practical trade training for MOD leavers, veterans and Armed Forces personnel who want to retrain in construction or property maintenance skills.

Can YTA accept MOD funding?

YTA Training can accept MOD/resettlement funding arrangements where these are approved through the relevant process. Please check your own eligibility and funding route with your MOD resettlement adviser or relevant education contact.

Is YTA ELCAS approved?

YTA Training does not currently offer ELCAS-supported courses. ELCAS funding is for eligible Level 3 or above learning with approved providers, and YTA’s current practical construction routes are mainly Level 1 training routes and NVQ Level 2 assessment routes.

Why are YTA courses not ELCAS-funded?

ELCAS requires Level 3 or above learning. In construction, Level 3 is usually a more advanced craft level and is not normally the right starting point for complete beginners or early-stage career changers.

What trades can MOD leavers train in at YTA?

MOD leavers can train in practical areas including plumbing, tiling, plastering, carpentry and joinery, multi-skill training and bathroom fitting. Experienced workers may also be suitable for selected NVQ Level 2 assessment routes.

Are YTA qualifications recognised?

YTA offers selected qualifications through recognised awarding bodies including NOCN Cskills and Ascentis. NOCN Cskills is connected with Construction Skills, formerly CITB Cskills, and Ascentis accredits YTA’s Level 1 Award in Plumbing Operations.

Can I learn several trades?

Yes. YTA Training offers multi-skill courses that can combine plumbing, tiling, plastering and carpentry and joinery depending on the course selected.

Can I become self-employed after training?

A course can provide a practical foundation, but self-employment also requires experience, confidence, tools, insurance, customer service, pricing ability and business skills. Many students use YTA training as the first step towards building those skills.
