We’re just a few months away from another new calendar year, and you know what that means: an obvious point for reflection on the 12 months just gone, and consideration of what the next 12 months ought to look like.
Maybe those coming 12 months could see you become a kitchen fitter?
After all, there are many excellent reasons to do so; this can be a highly satisfying line of work for people who enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and the feeling of watching spaces be transformed.
What are some of the best reasons to train in kitchen fitting?
As the name of this job suggests, the work of a kitchen fitter involves installing and fitting kitchens.
But this, in turn, encompasses a range of day-to-day tasks. They include the removal and disposal of old units, the measuring-out of work areas in accordance with plans, the measuring and cutting of worktops, the assembly of base units, and much more.
Naturally, whether you “should” undertake a kitchen or worktop fitting course as a route to entering this field, will depend on such aspects as your skills, personality, and goals.
In common with other trades for which we provide courses here at YTA, kitchen fitting is associated with a high level of job security.
Concerns about an ageing workforce and lower numbers of qualified fitters post-Brexit, mean that good kitchen fitters are in strong demand. Plus, with kitchens tending to be replaced about every 10 to 20 years, a recurring market clearly exists.
That’s before one even accounts for the earning potential; experienced kitchen fitters can earn as much as £40,000, and perhaps even more than this if self-employed.
Our five-day training route isn’t ‘just another’ worktop fitting course
When you join us at our West Yorkshire training centre for our introductory kitchen fitting course, you won’t “just” be learning about how to fit a worktop!
What you will be doing, is fitting a full corner kitchen with base and wall units, plinths, worktops, a sink, and a hob. The overarching aim of the course will be to equip you with the knowledge and skills you will require in order to fit your own kitchen.
Once you have such capability, you may go on to fit kitchens professionally, like so many of our past students have done.
It also helps that to ensure the necessary high standard of training, we only book one kitchen fitter at a time. So, you can expect a lot of expert attention and guidance as you get to grips with professional kitchen fitting tools such as jig saws, circular saws, and routers, and work through tasks like cutting, the building of units, the fitting of cupboards, and much more.
Take those first steps today to a rewarding new career
Whether you wish to focus squarely on a kitchen fitting career, or you are interested in adding to your skillset as a professional in another trade such as plastering, tiling, plumbing, or joinery, our introductory course could provide a vital foundation.
