YTA Training’s 5 Day Multi-Skill Course gives you a practical introduction to three trades of your choice at our training centre in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Choose from plumbing, tiling, plastering, and carpentry and joinery, then spend five days building experience with tools, materials and instructor guidance.

Come with questions. Get stuck into the practical work. Leave with a clearer understanding of the tasks you have practised and which skills you want to develop further.

Get a Feel for the Work Before Choosing Your Next Step

It can be difficult to choose a course when you have never held a plastering trowel, made a pipe joint or set out a row of tiles. A week spent trying different trades gives you something practical to base that decision on.

You might discover that you enjoy the precision of tiling, the problem-solving involved in plumbing or the satisfaction of working with timber. You might simply want to understand more of the work involved in improving a property. This course gives you space to start exploring those interests with an instructor available to help.

Previous trade experience is not required. Bring a willingness to learn, ask questions and practise.

You choose three of the four trade areas below. Your total course length is five days, with that time divided between your selections.

Which Three Trades Should You Choose?

Start with the work that interests you most. These example combinations may help:

• Plumbing, tiling and plastering: explore three areas commonly involved in kitchen and bathroom renovation.
• Carpentry, plastering and tiling: try a combination of timber work, surface preparation and finishing skills.
• Plumbing, carpentry and tiling: get an introduction to pipework, woodworking and tiling tasks.

You can choose any three of the four available trades. If you are unsure, tell us about your project or longer-term plans and we can help you choose.

Practical Training With Support as You Learn

Working with a material yourself helps you understand things that are difficult to judge from a video: how a tool feels, how a joint fits or how plaster behaves as you work it.

At YTA, you practise in a workshop environment with experienced instructors and small training groups. You can ask questions while working through a task and get help with the parts you find difficult.

Multi-Skill Training in Bradford, Near Leeds

All training takes place at YTA Training, Unit 12a, Factory Street, Dudley Hill, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD4 9NW.

Our Bradford centre is on the Leeds side of the city, with access from the M606 and M62 and free parking. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I attend as a complete beginner?

Yes. The course introduces you to the selected trades, and previous trade experience is not required.

Do I spend five days on each trade?

Your three chosen trades share one five-day week. For five days on each of three trades, choose the 15 Day Multi-Skill Course.

How much does the course cost?

The 5 Day Multi-Skill Course costs £750 including VAT.

What are the course times and opening hours?

Courses run Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm. The centre is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm.

Will I receive a qualification?

This course is non-accredited with certificate of attendance. If you want to work towards a recognised qualification, ask about our eligible ten-day Level 1 trade courses and their assessment requirements. See our courses and qualifications guide.

Can kitchen fitting be one of my three choices?

The four choices on this course are plumbing, tiling, plastering, and carpentry and joinery. Kitchen fitting has its own dedicated course and can also form part of a longer multi-skill programme.

What if I already know which trade I want to learn?
