The full plumbing week gives you the foundation for fitting a bathroom suite and tackling the associated pipework, valves and radiator work, including the skills used when moving or adding a water-fed towel radiator.

Why Bathroom Fitting Starts With a Full Plumbing Week

Changing a bathroom often means changing how the room works. A basin may need moving, pipework may need rerouting, or an existing radiator may need replacing with a towel radiator in a different position.

To plan and carry out those tasks, you need an understanding of the connections behind the fittings: how water reaches them, how waste leaves them, how valves control the supply and how to check your work.

That is why this package includes our full 5 Day Intensive Plumbing Course. You develop the wider plumbing skills that support a bathroom installation, alongside practical experience of fitting a bath, basin and WC.

The radiator element matters too. Learning about radiator pipework, valves, draining, filling and bleeding helps you understand the work involved in replacing, moving or adding a water-fed towel radiator as part of a bathroom refit.

The focus here is standard bathroom work and straightforward radiator alterations. For gravity-fed hot water systems, cylinders, header tanks and more involved heating arrangements, the 10 Day Plumbing Course provides the additional training.

How Your Ten Days Are Structured

What You Will Learn During the Plumbing Week

You practise with tools, pipework and fittings in the workshop, developing the skills needed to connect, alter and test plumbing installations.

• Pipework skills: measuring, cutting and bending copper pipe, plus working with plastic pipe and different joint types.
• Bathroom installation: planning first and second fix work and connecting a bath, basin, WC, taps, wastes and traps.
• Valves and repairs: isolation valves, toilet mechanisms, tap faults and common repair tasks.
• Radiator work: installing radiator pipework, working with radiator valves and understanding draining, filling and bleeding.
• Testing: checking installations under pressure, identifying leaks and correcting the connections.

The full plumbing week also includes wider exercises such as kitchen sink connections and common maintenance tasks. These give you further practice with techniques you can apply across domestic plumbing work.

Two Days of Practical Plastering

A bathroom renovation can involve improving walls and ceilings as well as changing the fittings. Your plastering sessions introduce the preparation and skimming techniques used to create a smoother finish.

• Become familiar with plastering tools and how to handle them.
• Prepare suitable backgrounds for skimming.
• Mix and apply plaster.
• Practise skimming walls and ceilings.
• Work with plastering trims and develop your finishing technique.

Three Days of Bathroom Tiling

Tiling brings much of the finished appearance together. A balanced layout and careful cuts around pipes, corners and fittings can make a visible difference to the result.

• Assess and prepare suitable surfaces, including priming where required.
• Understand the role of waterproofing in areas exposed to water.
• Measure and set out a bathroom tiling area.
• Practise applying adhesive and positioning tiles.
• Cut and drill tiles to work around bathroom obstacles.
• Develop grouting and silicone finishing skills.

Standard bathroom wall tiling is the main practical focus. Floor tiling may also be covered where time and individual progress allow. For sloping wet room floor tiling, borders and more advanced decorative work, choose the 10 Day Intensive Tiling Course.

This longer route gives you 25 training days across three trades, with time to develop the skills for more demanding bathroom projects:

• Advanced tiling: sloping wet room floor tiling, tanking, borders, decorative features and more involved cutting and setting out.
• Broader plumbing: gravity-fed hot water systems, cylinders, header tanks and more complex heating and radiator arrangements.
• A full plastering week: preparation, plasterboarding, skimming, ceilings and repair work.

Perhaps you want to feel confident discussing a more ambitious bathroom with a customer, or to carry out more of the project yourself from pipework through to the finished surfaces. This combination is designed to leave you better equipped to start a bathroom replacement or bathroom fitting service across those areas.

Book Four Weeks and Get Five Days of Plastering Free

The prices below apply to training starting from October 2026 and include VAT.

How to qualify: book and pay in full for the four weeks of plumbing and tiling training at the time of booking, then arrange your free plastering week with the YTA team. Training can be split over six months, and the free week must be taken within six months of your first course start date. See our current offer terms for full details.

Optional Level 1 Routes

You can add the Level 1 plumbing qualification route or Level 1 tiling accreditation for £400 including VAT per trade. Choosing both brings the five-week offer package to £3,800 including VAT. Awards depend on completing the required assessments. The free five-day plastering course remains non-accredited with certificate of attendance.

Yes. The plumbing week includes bathroom installation practice with a bath, basin, WC, taps, supply pipework and wastes, alongside testing the completed work.

Will the plumbing training help me move or add a towel radiator?

Yes. You learn radiator pipework, valves and the principles of draining, filling, bleeding and checking a system. These support straightforward alterations involving a water-fed towel radiator. For more involved heating arrangements or gravity-fed hot water systems, choose the 10 Day Plumbing Course.

How are the ten days divided?

You complete five days of plumbing, two days of plastering and three days of bathroom tiling. The plumbing element is the full five-day intensive plumbing course.

Is the course suitable for a complete beginner?

Yes. You can attend without previous plumbing, plastering or tiling experience. The course provides practical training with instructor guidance as you learn.

How much does the bathroom fitting course cost?

For courses starting from October 2026, the price is £1,500 including VAT for the complete ten-day package.

What are the course times and centre opening hours?

Courses run Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm. The centre is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm.

Does this ten-day course include a Level 1 qualification?

The course status is Non-accredited with certificate of attendance. Its ten days are shared across three trades, with five days spent on plumbing.

Which route is better for wet rooms, borders and more complex bathroom projects?

The ten-day bathroom fitting package focuses on standard bathrooms. For more advanced work, we recommend 10 days of plumbing and 10 days of tiling, with five days of plastering free under the current offer.

Does the ten-day bathroom fitting course qualify for the free plastering week?

The offer applies when you book and pay in full for four weeks of training. Booking the 10 Day Plumbing Course and 10 Day Tiling Course together meets that requirement. The ten-day bathroom fitting course is a two-week package and already includes its two days of plastering.
