You may have spent years thinking about working for yourself. Perhaps you already maintain properties and want to offer a wider service. Or perhaps you are ready for a practical career change and want to take a serious first step.

You choose your courses and available dates, then add the individual courses to your cart and pay online. Under our current offer, booking four paid weeks also gives you a fifth week of training free of charge, worth £750. Simply call or email YTA to arrange that additional week. Four Trades or Two Specialisms: Build Your Own Programme
Think about the jobs you want to take on and choose the training that supports them. A broader programme can help you combine several skills on property improvements. Spending longer in two trades gives you more time for advanced techniques and practical problem-solving.
- Four five-day courses: spend a full week in each of four trades.
- Two ten-day courses: develop foundation and advanced skills in two chosen trades.
- One ten-day course and two five-day courses: focus more deeply on one trade while adding two complementary skills.
Each combination provides four paid weeks, or 20 training days. A ten-day course counts as two weeks, so you do not need four separate items in your cart if you choose ten-day courses.
Beginners can start with the foundation training. Where your programme includes an advanced second week, complete the relevant foundation training first. Check the dates for both weeks of a ten-day course when planning your schedule.

Choose Your Courses and View Available Dates
Use the links below to explore each course. Available dates and Add to Cart options are at the bottom of each individual course page. Select courses totalling four paid weeks and choose dates that do not overlap.
Plumbing
Develop practical skills in pipework, fittings, bathroom and kitchen connections, common repairs and straightforward radiator work. The ten-day route adds more involved plumbing, heating and hot water topics.
The plumbing ten-day page includes standard and Level 1 options. Select the option you want when booking.
Wall and Floor Tiling
Learn preparation, setting out, cutting, fixing, grouting and finishing. Choose ten days to progress into more advanced work, including wet room floor tiling, decorative features and more demanding layouts.
Plastering
Work on preparing backgrounds, fixing plasterboard, skimming walls and ceilings, and repairing plaster. The ten-day course gives you further practice with complete room projects and more advanced plastering and rendering techniques.
Carpentry and Joinery
Build skills in measuring, cutting, joints, studwork, door hanging, skirting and architrave. Ten days allows you to develop these skills further through larger timber projects and more challenging carpentry tasks.
Kitchen Fitting
Learn to plan and fit a kitchen, position and level units, fit worktops, use a router and worktop jig, and complete finishing details. This can complement plumbing, tiling, plastering and carpentry training.
5 Day Kitchen Fitting Course — £825
Include kitchen fitting as a paid week or request it as your bonus week. Either option adds £75 to the standard package price.
Standard courses: Non-accredited with certificate of attendance. If you want assessed training, see the optional ten-day Level 1 routes below.
Current Offer: Five Weeks for the Price of Four
Give yourself another full week to build your skills. Book and pay in full for four weeks of training, then contact YTA to arrange a fifth five-day course free of charge, subject to the offer terms and availability.
Five standard training weeks: £3,000 including VAT
- Usual combined price: five weeks at £750 = £3,750.
- You pay for four weeks: four weeks at £750 = £3,000.
- Your fifth standard week costs £0.
- Total saving: £750.
Use the bonus week to add another trade or build on a trade you have already studied with a suitable advanced week. YTA will help you select the appropriate level.
Including Kitchen Fitting
The kitchen fitting course costs £825, which is £75 more than a standard £750 training week.
- Kitchen fitting as a paid week: add the £825 course to your cart alongside three standard paid weeks at £750 each. You pay £3,075, then arrange a standard fifth week free with YTA.
- Kitchen fitting as your bonus week: book four standard paid weeks for £3,000, then ask YTA to arrange kitchen fitting as your fifth week. The offer covers £750 of its £825 price, leaving a £75 supplement for the team to arrange. Your total is £3,075.
In either example, five weeks including kitchen fitting would normally total £3,825. You save £750 and pay £3,075 including VAT, before any optional Level 1 upgrades.

Example Programmes for the Work You Want to Do
Build a Wider Property Maintenance Service
Book five days each in plumbing, tiling, plastering and carpentry and joinery. Then use your free week for suitable advanced training in one of those trades, or add kitchen fitting for the £75 supplement.
This gives you a practical starting point for combining repairs, preparation, installation and finishing work across property improvement projects.
Develop Towards a Bathroom Fitting Service
Book the 10 Day Plumbing Course and 10 Day Tiling Course, then request the 5 Day Plastering Course as your free week. Total: £3,000 including VAT for 25 training days, saving £750.
The longer plumbing and tiling courses allow you to cover more involved work, including radiator alterations, gravity-fed hot water systems, sloping wet room floor tiling and decorative tiling features. Plastering adds useful preparation and repair skills for bathroom replacement projects.
It is a substantial practical foundation for developing a bathroom fitting service. Build experience after training and take on work that matches the skills you can confidently demonstrate.
How to Book Your Four Weeks and Arrange Your Free Fifth Week
You build your own schedule using the individual course pages. Your chosen courses together make up the four-week programme.
- Choose your paid courses. Select four five-day courses, two ten-day courses, or a combination totalling 20 training days.
- Choose your dates. Open each course page and scroll to the booking options at the bottom. Select your preferred available course dates and use Add to Cart. Check all training weeks, including both weeks of any ten-day course, to avoid overlapping dates.
- Check your cart and pay in full. Review the course names, dates and options in your cart, then complete payment for your four paid weeks.
- Call or email YTA to request your free week. Tell us you have booked under the five-weeks-for-four offer and state the five-day course and start date you would like for your bonus week.
- YTA confirms and books the bonus week. Our team checks your booking and availability, then manually books your fifth week and confirms the arrangements with you.
Request Your Free Week When You Book
You can email us at the same time as making your online booking, so we know to process your programme as five weeks for the price of four.
Call 01274 682199 or email info@ytatraining.com with:
- Your full name and telephone number.
- Your order or booking reference, if available, and the courses you have booked.
- A note that you are claiming the five-weeks-for-four offer.
- The course name and preferred start date for your free five-day week, using the dates shown on that course page.
Add only your four paid weeks to the cart. The free week is arranged manually by YTA, so please request it by phone or email rather than purchasing it as another paid course.
Your requested free week is booked once the YTA team confirms it. If you choose kitchen fitting, we will also arrange the £75 supplement.
Plan Your Training Around Your Commitments
You can choose consecutive weeks where dates are available, or spread your training around work, family and other commitments within the offer’s booking period. You decide which available dates suit you. If you need help planning the order, contact the YTA team.
Offer Terms
- The four paid weeks must be paid in full when booking.
- The paid weeks can be spread over six months.
- The free fifth week must be taken within six months of your first course start date.
- If YTA has to rearrange your course date unexpectedly, you receive an additional three months in which to take the free week.
- Course dates are subject to availability. Our usual booking terms apply to cancellations and missed courses.
See our current offer information and booking terms and conditions.
Add Level 1 to Your Ten-Day Trade Courses
If your programme includes a ten-day trade course, you can choose the relevant Level 1 route for an additional £400 including VAT per trade. This adds formal assessments to the practical training. The award or unit accreditation depends on the course and successful completion of its assessments.
- 10 Day Level 1 Plumbing Course
- 10 Day Level 1 Wall and Floor Tiling Course
- 10 Day Level 1 Plastering Course
- 10 Day Level 1 Carpentry and Joinery Course
For a programme of two ten-day courses plus a free standard five-day week:
- Standard practical training: £3,000 including VAT.
- With one Level 1 upgrade: £3,400 including VAT.
- With two Level 1 upgrades: £3,800 including VAT.
The £75 kitchen-fitting supplement is additional if you choose kitchen fitting as your bonus week. Select the Level 1 course option when booking, or speak to YTA early in your training if you are considering upgrading. The assessment fee does not count as another training week.

Practical Training for People Ready to Move Forward
Learning a trade becomes more meaningful when you can see where it might take you: completing more of a renovation yourself, adding another service to an existing business, or gradually building towards working for yourself.
At YTA, you use the tools, work with the materials and practise the techniques with experienced instructors. Small groups give you opportunities to ask questions and work on the details that make a difference to your results.
We have provided practical construction training since 2006. Read our student reviews to hear about other learners’ experiences, or speak to the team about the type of work you hope to do.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous trade experience?
No previous experience is needed for the foundation courses. Ten-day courses start with the foundations and progress to more advanced work. Advanced-only weeks require suitable existing skills or completion of the relevant foundation training.
Can two ten-day courses qualify for the free week?
Yes. Two ten-day courses provide four paid weeks. Book and pay for them, then call or email YTA with your requested free five-day course and start date.
Is the free week booked automatically at checkout?
No. You book your paid courses online, then contact YTA to arrange the free week. You can send your email at the same time as booking. The team confirms availability and manually adds the bonus week to your programme.
Can kitchen fitting be my free week?
Yes. The offer covers £750 towards the £825 kitchen fitting course, so you pay the remaining £75. Request your preferred kitchen-fitting date by phone or email when arranging your bonus week.
Can I spread the training out?
Yes. Choose available dates that suit your commitments and fit within the offer terms above. You do not have to attend for five consecutive weeks.
Will I receive a qualification?
The standard courses are Non-accredited with certificate of attendance. Optional ten-day Level 1 routes include formal assessment for an additional fee. Completing four separate five-day foundation courses does not automatically award Level 1 qualifications.
