This is our top wall and floor tiling course. In the 10 Day Accredited wall and floor tiling course you will undertake 2 Cskills tiling assessment units.

You will be trained and assessed on the following units:

• NOCN Cskills Level 1 Unit: Tiling A Wall With Decorative Features (Square Tiles)
• NOCN Cskills Level 1 Unit: Tiling A Floor With Obstacles
• On achievement of the above units you will gain 6 credits at level 1 and be awarded a unit accreditation certificate for ‘Skills for Tiling’ from NOCN Cskills.

NOCN Cskills (Construction Skills) formally CITB Cskills are the awarding body for construction NVQ’s so the Cskills brand and logos are well known within the construction industry.

The Cskills accredited units you will complete over the 10 days will show potential employers or customers your competence in your chosen trade. On completion of the above assessments a unit certificate will be achieved for each of the completed units. This is known as a unit-accreditation certificate which is ideal to build on and demonstrate prior knowledge for when you look to gain the NVQ level 2 once you have gained some tiling experience.

The first week of this tiling course is the 5 day Tiling course. The second week of this course is the YTA Advanced tiling course with the Cskills Level 1 assessments. The 2 weeks course (10 day level 1 accredited tiling course) is detailed below.

Monday

Starting with health and safety and then moving on to preparing surfaces and setting out tiling of the kitchens. Cutting the tiles with a tile cutter and a tile wet cutter. Setting out for the feature. Tiling the kitchen and grouting before the day is finished.

Tuesday

Polishing off the previous days work and silicone sealing to complete the tiled kitchen. Setting out and tiling to, and around windows and tiling down to the floor on a large area.

Wednesday

Finish off previous days tiling and then talks on tile adhesive and grouts for different situations. Tiling tools and tiling tool kits explained. Marking and cutting tiles around obstacles such as toilet waste pipes, basin pedestals, awkward angles / corners and door architrave profiles. Battening out of a bathroom including preparation and setting out. Start tiling your bathroom.

Thursday

Complete tiling the bathroom ensuring cuts to the bath, bath ends and shower pipes are appropriate for customer inspection. Drilling holes in tiles. Full measuring and quoting, preparing quotes for customers.

Friday

Preparing, setting out and tiling of the bathroom floor. Tiling Question sheet hand in time and answering of any further questions. Completion of hand out folders and finish with tiling course level 1 certificate presentation.

Second week of this 10 day course.

Monday

Tiling the kitchen but with diamond splashback going up to funnel. Tiling with diamond inserts either side and also tiling the kitchen funnels unlike the previous week. Grout the kitchen ready to silicone and polish on Tuesday.

Tuesday

Setting out with windows and full windows. Tile around a window inside and out. Finish and grout.

Wednesday & Thursday

Wet rooms, tanking, plunge cutting, and naturals including cutting and sealing. Tile a large area within the bathroom and introduce a feature within the room. Diamond drilling around waste and supply pipes including soil pipe drilling.

Friday

Tiling in the bathroom on the floor. Installing under-floor heating then tiling on it. Any final questions answered. Certificate presentation.

Floor specific course covering the specialist knowledge that will help you create the best finish when floor tiling.

This course is suitable for the absolute beginner or professional and covers the following: –

• Surface preparation including self-levelling

This is our intensive 5 day wall and floor tiling course and is suitable for complete beginners with no previous experience, enthusiastic DIY’ers, other tradespersons wishing to enter the tiling industry. We have no more than 6 tiling students per instructor. We also offer a 10 day tiling course, 10 Day Intensive Wall & Floor Tiling Course

Prior knowledge of tiling is not needed to start the course as we can start straight from scratch or if you have some prior skills we can tailor the course to suit your needs. With a low student to trainer ratio in specific tiling training bays we can differentiate to each students needs and add more complex aspects to the course should you learn quicker than others.

Our target is to have you leave the tiling course armed with enough skills, information and confidence to begin your new tiling career as a professional tiler and make a success of it, as many of our former students have. Our tiling courses are unique in that we provide a tiling information pack that we have built up over the years with lots of helpful tips and advice, a ’tiling manual’ if you like showing everything from setting out a room with different obstacles to which tiling adhesives and primers are needed for different substrates. The ’tiling manual’ doesn’t take the place of tutored learning but it is always there as a reference after the course.

2 Day Kitchen Tiling Course £315 inc vat

This is an action based course to teach the student how to tile a typical kitchen from start to finish. A great pocket friendly option to introduce yourself to the art of tiling and to make yourself able to complete your own projects.

This course covers all aspects of tiling a kitchen from surface preparation to siliconing. During this course you will:-

• Prepare surface for tiling
• Set out a kitchen involving plugs a return and a window.
• Apply tiles and adhesives
• Grout tiles to professional standard
• Clean and silicone all relevant joints
• Tile a window using most common finish

All the above are taught by lecture (short) demonstration and then straight into the project with guidance.
