Intensive Advanced Tiling Course – 5 days

Build the Skills to Take Your Tiling Further

Learning the foundations gives you a starting point. Spending another week developing those skills can open up a much wider range of projects: decorative kitchen splashbacks, natural stone, mosaic features and more demanding bathroom tiling.

YTA’s 5 Day Advanced Tiling Course gives you focused practical time to build on your foundation training. Work through more challenging layouts, specialist cuts and wet room techniques, with an instructor there to guide you as you practise.

Whether you want to develop a tiling service, add more to your bathroom-fitting work or tackle a more ambitious renovation, this is your opportunity to keep moving forward.

Advanced Week Price

£750 including VAT

Five days of practical advanced tiling training.

Tools and training materials are supplied for use during the course.

Non-accredited with certificate of attendance

Course Times

Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm.

The centre is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm.

Training takes place at YTA in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Your Starting Point

A follow-on from foundation tiling training.

Ideal for students who have completed YTA’s five-day intensive tiling course.

If you trained elsewhere or have existing experience, speak to us about suitability before booking.

Prices shown apply to course starts from October 2026.

Training location: YTA Training, Unit 12a, Factory Street, Dudley Hill, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD4 9NW.

This Is the Second Week of Our Ten-Day Tiling Courses

The advanced training forms week two of both the 10 Day Intensive Tiling Course and the 10 Day Level 1 Tiling Course.

If you have already booked either ten-day course, this advanced week is included. You do not need to book or pay for it separately.

Who Is the Advanced Tiling Course For?

  • Returning YTA students who enjoyed their first week and want to develop further.
  • People building towards a tiling business who want more practice with detailed work and different materials.
  • Plumbers, bathroom fitters and property-maintenance workers with foundation tiling skills who want to broaden their services.
  • Homeowners and renovators who have learned the basics and want support with more challenging tiling projects.

New to tiling? Start with the 5 Day Intensive Tiling Course, or book the full ten-day course to cover foundation and advanced training together.

What You Will Learn During Your Advanced Week

The week builds on preparation, setting out, cutting and fixing skills, then introduces the extra planning and detail needed for more involved kitchen, bathroom and floor projects.

Monday: Decorative Kitchen Tiling and Diamond Features

Develop your setting-out skills with diamond layouts and decorative inserts in a kitchen-style training area. Learn how to carry a design through the splashback and cooker-hood area, keeping the pattern balanced as you work around changes in shape.

  • Planning and setting out diamond-pattern splashbacks.
  • Positioning decorative inserts within the wider tiled area.
  • Making the cuts needed for more detailed layouts.
  • Fixing and grouting the kitchen project ready for finishing.

Tuesday: Window Reveals, Mosaics and Finishing

Finish the kitchen project, then develop the setting-out and cutting skills needed to tile around windows and into reveals. Move on to mosaic techniques and consider how smaller tiles and decorative details affect the finished layout.

  • Cleaning, polishing and silicone finishing.
  • Planning tiling around complete window openings.
  • Working into window reveals and around internal and external corners.
  • Handling, positioning and finishing mosaic tiles.

Wednesday and Thursday: Wet Rooms, Natural Stone and Specialist Cuts

Explore the preparation and tiling techniques behind wet room projects, including tanking and tiling sloping floors. Develop your handling of natural stone and practise the cutting and drilling needed around bathroom pipework and other obstacles.

  • Wet room tiling and the importance of suitable waterproofing preparation.
  • Tanking methods and tiling layouts for sloping wet room floors.
  • Cutting and sealing natural stone.
  • Plunge cuts and more challenging tile shapes.
  • Diamond drilling for supply pipes, waste pipes and larger soil-pipe openings.
  • Introducing a decorative feature into a larger bathroom tiling project.

Friday: Bathroom Floors and Tiling over Underfloor Heating

Continue into floor tiling, including the layout and laying stages of underfloor heating within the training project and tiling over the prepared system. Review the week’s work and discuss the techniques you want to keep developing.

  • Planning and tiling a bathroom floor.
  • Understanding the tiling stages associated with underfloor heating.
  • Working around floor-level obstacles and bathroom features.
  • Final questions, feedback and your certificate of attendance.

The underfloor-heating content concerns the training project’s preparation, laying and tiling stages. It does not provide an electrical qualification.

Develop the Detail That Matters to Your Customers

A customer sees the whole finished room: the layout around a window, the alignment of a feature, the cuts around pipework and the care taken with the finishing. The advanced week gives you more time to work on those details and understand the decisions behind them.

You will also discuss measuring and quoting using realistic kitchen and bathroom projects, alongside introductory guidance on marketing and setting up a service. For someone developing towards paid work, these are useful steps towards planning jobs and explaining a quotation to a customer.

Keep building your experience after training and choose projects that match your practical ability. Good preparation, consistent workmanship and reliable customer service all matter as you develop your reputation.

Already Taken the First Week? Plan Your Return

You can book the advanced week separately after completing your foundation training. If you are currently attending YTA’s five-day course and want to continue, speak to the team during your visit so we can check places and discuss suitable dates.

You can also return for the advanced week later. Tell us when you completed your foundation course and which week you would like to attend. Places and dates must be confirmed by YTA.

If you have trained elsewhere, call us first to discuss your experience. We will help you decide whether the advanced week or a course including the foundations is the better fit.

Want Assessed Level 1 Training?

  • 10 Day Level 1 Tiling Course: £1,900 including VAT. Foundation and advanced training, including the £400 assessment addition, leading to NOCN Cskills Level 1 unit accreditation in Skills for Tiling on successful assessment.

Could This Be Your Free Fifth Week?

Under our current five-weeks-for-four offer, you can request suitable advanced training as your bonus week after the relevant foundation training.
