You might be ready for a change in working life, want to add tiling to your existing services or have a property project you want to take further. Whatever has brought you here, ten days gives you time to build a practical foundation and then tackle more demanding work with guidance.

YTA’s 10 Day Intensive Wall and Floor Tiling Course, also known as our “Ready for Anything” tiling course, brings foundation and advanced training together. Start with preparation, cutting and setting out, then progress to decorative features, natural stone, wet room tiling, tanking and tiling over underfloor heating.

Complete beginners are welcome. The first week starts with the fundamentals; the second week builds on them through more involved kitchen, bathroom and floor projects.

Week One: Build Your Wall and Floor Tiling Foundation

Your first week covers our 5 Day Intensive Tiling Course. It is already included in this ten-day booking.

Days 1 and 2: Kitchens, Preparation and Window Details

Begin with health and safety, surface preparation and setting out a kitchen training area. Use manual and wet tile cutters, apply tiles and grout the work. Then develop your finishing skills with cleaning and silicone sealing.

Move on to a larger wall area containing a window. Practise planning the layout and making the cuts needed to carry your tiling around the opening and towards floor level.

Days 3 and 4: Bathroom Walls, Awkward Cuts and Quoting

Explore adhesives, grouts and tiling tools before preparing, battening and setting out a bathroom. Practise cutting around waste pipes, basin pedestals, corners and door profiles.

Continue the bathroom project with cuts around baths and shower pipes, including drilling holes through tiles. You will also work on measuring projects and preparing customer quotations.

Day 5: Bathroom Floor Tiling

Prepare, set out and tile the bathroom floor. Bring together the week’s learning, ask questions and complete your supporting tiling information before moving into the advanced week.

Week Two: Advanced Tiling Techniques and More Demanding Projects

The second week develops the foundation skills through decorative work, different materials and more complex cutting and layouts.

Day 6: Decorative Kitchen Tiling

Work on diamond splashbacks and decorative inserts, with more involved setting out around the kitchen feature. Develop the layout, cutting and finishing skills that help a design come together.

Day 7: Window Reveals and More Detailed Layouts

Develop your setting-out skills around a full window, including the reveals and surrounding wall. Work through the corners, cuts and finishing details, with further advanced practice including mosaic techniques.

Days 8 and 9: Wet Rooms, Natural Stone and Specialist Cutting

Cover wet room tiling, including sloping floor layouts and tanking preparation. Explore working with natural stone, including cutting and sealing, and practise plunge cuts and diamond drilling around waste and supply pipes.

Work on a larger bathroom area and incorporate a decorative feature. These projects give you more to consider when planning tile positions, cuts and the overall finish.

Day 10: Underfloor Heating and Floor Tiling

Underfloor heating, focusing on the preparation and tiling stages. We also have wet room bases to tile and curved shower tray areas. Review your work, discuss any remaining questions and receive your certificate of attendance.

The outline shows how the training develops across the two weeks. Your instructor guides the practical work and progression through the projects.

Learn to Measure, Quote and Plan Your Next Steps

If you want to work towards offering tiling services, you also need to understand how a job is measured and priced. YTA includes measuring and quoting using the kitchen and bathroom training projects.

You can discuss business start-up, marketing, business cards and advertising, alongside tools, materials and further training. Your supporting tiling information gives you a reference to take away after the course.

The next step might be practising on your own renovation, developing alongside an experienced tiler or gradually adding suitable tiling work to an existing service. Build experience and take on projects that match your developing ability.

Practical Training at YTA in Bradford

YTA has delivered practical construction training since 2006. You will learn in a workshop with realistic kitchen and bathroom training areas, small groups and experienced instructors.

You can ask questions while you work and receive guidance on the cuts, layouts and finishes in front of you. Tools and training materials are supplied for use during the course.

Want Assessed Skills Alongside Your Practical Training?

If you are taking this step with future paid work in mind, consider the 10 Day Level 1 Tiling Course. It combines the foundation and advanced training with formal assessment.

The Level 1 route provides a formal record of assessed achievement through practical tasks and knowledge questions. Select it on its separate course page when booking, or speak to YTA early in your first week if you are considering an upgrade.

Fit Your Two Weeks Around Your Commitments

You can complete the training over two consecutive weeks where available, or split it into two separate weeks at no extra course cost. Complete the foundation week before the advanced week.

Build a Five-Week Programme and Save £750

This ten-day course counts as two paid weeks towards our current five-weeks-for-four offer. Book and pay in full for four eligible weeks, then arrange a fifth standard week worth £750 free.

For someone working towards bathroom replacement projects, a useful combination is:

• 10 Day Tiling Course: £1,500.
• 10 Day Plumbing Course: £1,500 for the standard practical option.
• 5 Day Plastering Course: FREE under the offer, usually £750.

25 training days for £3,000 including VAT. Usual combined price £3,750. Save £750. This combines plumbing and tiling training with useful preparation and plastering skills.

How to Book and Arrange Your Free Week

1. Choose four paid weeks using the dates and Add to Cart options at the bottom of the individual course pages. Two ten-day courses meet this requirement.
2. Check your dates and pay in full. Allow for both weeks of each ten-day course and avoid overlapping dates.
3. Leave the free week out of your cart. Email or call YTA when you book, or immediately after paying.
4. Tell us your name, telephone number, paid booking details, chosen free course and preferred available start date. YTA checks availability, manually books the bonus week and confirms it with you.

Your programme must follow the full offer terms, including taking the bonus week within six months of your first course start date. Dates are subject to availability. Level 1 assessment additions cost £400 per eligible ten-day trade.

If you choose 5 Day Kitchen Fitting as your bonus week, the offer covers £750 of its £825 price; the team arranges the remaining £75 supplement.

Ten-Day Tiling Course Questions

Do I need previous tiling experience?

No. The foundation week is suitable for complete beginners. You develop the core skills before progressing into the advanced projects.

What does the second week add?

Decorative features, more detailed window work, wet rooms, natural stone, specialist cutting and drilling, and tiling over underfloor heating. It also gives you more time to practise and develop your technique.

Do I need to book the five-day course separately?

No. The £1,500 ten-day price includes both the foundation and advanced weeks. If you have already completed the foundation course, contact YTA about the advanced week.

Does this course include Level 1 accreditation?

This standard course is Non-accredited with certificate of attendance. Choose the separate £1,900 Level 1 route for training with assessment towards NOCN Cskills unit accreditation.

Can I split the weeks?

Yes, at no extra course cost. Choose a listed split-week option, or contact YTA before booking if you need a different combination of weeks.

Can this help me work towards a tiling business?
