Why Choose a Career in Plumbing?

The pipes that make modern living possible need hands capable of keeping them in check. As a result, skilled plumbers are consistently in high demand across Yorkshire and beyond. Here’s why a career in plumbing makes sense:

  • The growing demand for skilled plumbers ensures that you tap into a market with steady work and potential for growth.
  • Job security in the plumbing field is robust, with specialization options increasing your worth and marketability.
  • Considering going solo? Plumbing offers excellent opportunities for self-employment, giving you control over your success.

Benefits of Taking Plumbing Courses at YTA

Our pledge at YTA is to provide comprehensive training programs that impart not only theory but focus intensely on real-world, hands-on experience. Let’s break down the YTA advantage:

  • Industry-recognised certifications position you with credentials that speak volumes of your expertise.
  • With flexible learning options, including our popular short 5 and 10-day courses, we cater to busy schedules and ensure that you can start enhancing your skills without delay – courses start every Monday!

More Than A Plumbing Course

For many people, learning plumbing is not just about pipes, fittings and tools.

It is about wanting more options.

A plumbing course can be the first serious step towards a more practical future. You may be looking for a career change, a route into self-employment, better property maintenance skills or a way to add plumbing knowledge to another trade.

You will not become an experienced plumber overnight, and no honest training provider should promise that. But you can begin learning real skills, using real tools and building the confidence to move forward.

That is why many students choose practical hands-on training at YTA. It gives them a starting point, a workshop environment and the chance to learn by doing.

5 Day Plumbing Course Or 10 Day Level 1 Plumbing Course?

YTA offers different plumbing course routes depending on your goals.

The 5 Day Intensive Plumbing Course is a strong practical starting point for students who want to learn useful plumbing skills quickly. It is popular with DIY learners, landlords, property developers, career changers and existing tradespeople who want to add plumbing skills.

The 10 Day Level 1 Plumbing Course is usually better for students who want more training time, more practice and the opportunity to work towards a recognised Level 1 qualification.

As a simple guide:

  • Choose the 5 day plumbing course if you want practical plumbing skills for DIY, property maintenance, renovation work or to add plumbing to another trade.
  • Choose the 10 day Level 1 plumbing course if you are serious about career change, self-employment or building a stronger foundation in plumbing.

If you are unsure which route is right for you, read our 5 Day vs 10 Day Plumbing Course guide or contact YTA Training for advice.

”Best Course I’ve Ever Done!” New 5 Star YTA Review – Azher Ashraf – Scotland

“The best training school I’ve ever been to!” says Azher Ashraf from Scotland after completing multiple courses at YTA.

Azher left a fantastic 5 star YTA review following the completion of our plumbing, carpentry & joinery courses with more courses already booked in for the coming months!

The best training school I’ve ever been to. Travelled from Scotland and its the best course I’ve ever done. Paul the plumbing teacher was outstanding 10-10 for the help and knowledge. Dave in the tiling sector and Lawrence in joinery section were really good. Helped whenever asked this Is the best company in the UK. All hands on from the word go already booked on a kitchen course and joinery. They helped my self in every possible. Keep up the great work guys.

Thank you Azher for a great 5 star YTA review.

The 5 day plumbing course is suitable for total beginners with no previous experience or tradespersons such as tilers, plasterers, joiners, kitchen fitters etc who wish to undertake plumbing tasks from changing taps, plumbing in a kitchen sink including a washing machine to full bathroom replacements including fitting of radiators in order to gain more work and income. In the current climate the tradesperson who can do the whole job to a customer tends to gets the more jobs leaving the customer without the headache of finding multiple trades to complete a home project.

This plumbing course is aimed to give you enough skills to develop your expertise to a career in plumbing as many of our former plumbing candidates have or just to give you the confidence to take on plumbing projects around the house however small or large.

Our 5 day plumbing course will provide you with a great insight and understanding of the plumbing trade whether you are a total beginner or have some previous plumbing experience.

This 5 day intensive carpentry and joinery course is ideal if you are wanting to start a career in carpentry and eventually move on to gain your NVQ level 2 in Site Carpentry. No previous experience in carpentry is necessary. We also offer a 10 day course and 10 day level 1 course in carpentry & joinery.

YTA To Remain Open As Education Setting

Update following the Prime Ministers briefing on 31.10.2020 regarding the 2nd lockdown restrictions from 5.11.2020.

  • YTA will remain open and adhere to the government guidance and the below rules and regulations within the training centre.
  • YTA is a private limited company but offers nationally recognised qualifications and is a government registered UK learner provider (see here) YTA UKRPN number: 10056331. Under the 2nd lockdown rules we will remain open as an education setting.
  • Government guidance (see here) is that travel is permitted for education and deemed essential travel.

Further details can be found on the YTA COVID-19 PAGE.

YTA is open 8:30am to 5pm as usual

***** All courses are now up running *****

We are open and our top priority is keeping staff and students safe. Our training centre & office is open 8:30am to 5pm Monday – Friday. Please call our office on 01274682199.

We have the following rules & regulations in place to help keep everyone safe:

  • 2m floor indicators around the centre
  • track and trace signage / QR code as you enter the building.
  • hand sanitiser wall mounted dispensers around the training centre, office and the entrance/ exit to the building
  • hand wash facilities and disposable latex gloves provided throughout the centre as usual.
  • some training bays are only half height so we have built clear perspex screens to a suitable height so once students are in their bays they can maintain social distance by way of a barrier/ screen/ wall.
  • depending on students numbers, break times may be staggered and we may not be able to accommodate every student a place to eat their lunch inside our centre whilst also maintaining 2m distances at all times. We will ask students to eat their lunch in their car/ van whilst we give students attending via public transport priority seating inside the building for their lunch
  • we will limit the amount of tool sharing as much as possible. Everyone will be provided with a set of tools to use for the duration of their course but some tools will need to be shared such as large tiles cutters, mixing drills and pressure testers. Wearing gloves whilst using these will be advised or use the hand sanitiser.
  • wearing a face-mask inside the building will be mandatory when a 2m social distance can not be maintained, for example:

– during some types of training such as 1 to 1 training

– small group lectures where the group may be stood near each other

– whilst walking through areas narrower than 2m where other students or staff may also walkthrough or past

This is to help keep everybody safe. The face-mask provided will be free of charge and a new one will be provided each day if required, this way everyone is able to wear a regulated good quality face-mask.

We are not sure how long we will need these rules and procedures in place but I feel it is a good way of trying to keep everybody safe. If you would like to cancel your course then we can refund your course fee or re-schedule for a time when the above rules can be relaxed. We will expect all students and staff to adhere to the above measures. Safety in these unprecedented times is our top priority.

It will feel a little different at first whilst we all get used to the new social distancing measures and how we can practice this in a construction training centre but please bear with us as we are all new to this way of working/ teaching/ assessing.

Thank you. Stay safe.

Student returns 9 years later!

It was so lovely to have Denise back in YTA with her son 9 years after her first course. Denise originally attended our tiling course back in 2011 and has returned to complete a few more courses with her son’s in August and September leaving us with a lovely review on Google.

I did my first tiling course here over 9 years ago. I loved it! But I came out of the trades industry for a few years. Having recently started my new business as a tiler I wanted extra experience with what I’ll probably come across.

My son and I attended the 5 day plumbing course. Fantastic for both of us.

I have since attended a 2 day floor tiling course.

The instructors make this such a fun and relaxed atmosphere whilst maintaining safety and professionalism.

I feel the course prices are extremely reasonable and can’t wait to attend the 5 day joinery course in January 2021!

All safety measures are adhered to!

I haven’t bothered looking at anywhere else for my courses as YTA has it all!

They even sell tools at competitive prices too!

Thank you Denise for such a lovely 5 star review. It’s always great to see returning students and hear how well you’ve been doing. Looking forward to another catch up when you return for the joinery & carpentry course. Graham
