Tiling course

29th March 2022 By Liz Spider

By the end of 10 days, you can be a Level 1-qualified tiler with our help

Becoming a tiler may not be for everyone – to succeed in this occupation, after all, you will need to be able to work well with your hands, in addition to functioning well under pressure and organising your time and workload effectively.

But if you do have the qualities to thrive as a tiler, and you would like to train yourself up to Level 1 competence in a short space of time, you might have good reason to take a close look at our latest tiling intensive courses here at YTA.

You can be a confident and capable tiler in next to no time

We offer a series of tiling intensive courses, with the right choice for you likely to depend on such factors as why you are taking on such training, and what you intend to get out of it at the end. For this blog post, though, we’re focusing on our top wall and floor tiling course, which takes place over 10 days.

This course is an accredited course that involves the learner being trained and assessed on two NOCN Cskills Level 1 units: Tiling a Wall With Decorative Features (Square Tiles), and Tiling a Floor With Obstacles. Achievement of both these units will give you six credits at Level 1, entitling you to receive a unit accreditation certificate for ‘Skills for Tiling’.

If it would work out better around your practical needs for this course to be split into two separate weeks at different times, this is also something that can be arranged, with nothing extra needing to be paid for the split dates. Simply call YTA now, on 07400 922788, for further details on this, and for any additional advice on your situation.

The perfect training option when you need to build up your tiling competence

From the first day you join us at our training site in Yorkshire, when you will learn about the basics of tiling health and safety and the preparation of surfaces, right through to Friday in the second week when you will be installing underfloor heating and then tiling on it, this course will cover some serious ground in a mere 10 days.

And as is the case on all other YTA tiling intensive courses, your training on this course will also encompass such things as full measuring and in-depth quoting, marketing techniques, business cards, how to advertise, how to start up in business, and so much more.

With courses being held every week from Monday to Friday, we’re confident that we will be able to book you in for a date that makes sense for you – so that you can soon start the next exciting phase of your life and career. Enquire to us now via phone or email for more information.

Why not spend 10 days with us becoming a Level 1-qualified tiler?

There are many good reasons to consider taking on an advanced tiling course in the UK. One of those is naturally the strong appeal of tiling as a career, whether you are an existing tradesperson who would like to add tiling to your skill-set, or a complete newcomer to learning a trade. Nor can one entirely ignore the financial rewards, with experienced tilers potentially earning as much as £32,000 a year.

But if this is the professional path that you would like to embark on, what training options should you look at? One possibility we would suggest you seriously consider, is a 10-day Level 1 course that would allow you to achieve a full qualification for showing to future customers or employers.

Sure enough, here at YTA, we offer the 10-day NOCN Cskills Level 1 Certificate in Tiling course. Those signing up for this course will undertake four Cskills assessments as they learn all about tiling, with the opportunity to earn the NOCN Cskills Level 1 Certificate in Wall and Floor Tiling.

You’ll learn a serious amount about tiling in just two weeks

This 10-day course effectively consists of our five-day intensive tiling course, followed by our five-day advanced tiling course in the UK.

Training in tiling via this particular course, however, will enable you to be trained and assessed in no fewer than four Cskills units, in relation to health and safety in construction trades, communicating effectively in construction trades, wall tiling and floor tiling.

As for the course content itself, you’ll start on Monday by learning about health and safety, before we proceed to train you in the preparation of surfaces and setting out the tiling of kitchens. You’ll then be taught how to cut the tiles with a tile cutter and a tile wet cutter, set out for the feature, and tile the kitchen. Grouting will also be covered, before the first day of the course is even over!

Over the rest of the first week, you’ll receive our renowned hands-on tuition in such tasks as silicone sealing, tiling around windows, marking and cutting tiles around obstacles such as basin pedestals and toilet waste pipes, and drilling holes in tiles. You’ll also get to grips with how to measure and quote for customers, and the preparation, setting out and tiling of a bathroom floor.

Even with all of that taught in the first week, there will be much more to come in the second week. This will be when you build your skills in such more advanced processes as tiling with diamond inserts, tiling around a window inside and out, tanking, plunge cutting, diamond drilling around waste and supply pipes, and installing under-floor heating before tiling on top of it.

There’s much more to be educated on when you take on this complete tiling course!

Your learning on this 10-day advanced tiling course in the UK won’t stop with all of the above. That’s because every YTA course also includes various other content, including useful ‘tricks of the trade’, advice on how to market yourself as a tiler, information on business start-up, business cards, tax, CSCS cards, and a lot more.

To find out more about this course and to book your place if you decide it is the right one for you, please call 01274682199 today. As we all look for new beginnings in our lives after the COVID-19 pandemic, it could be one of the best decisions you ever make for your employability, earnings and lifestyle.

What could you get out of a 5-day Level 1 tiling course at YTA?

Whether you’ve always wanted to improve your tiling skills, would like to take on a tiling career, or are an existing tradesperson wishing to add tiling to your skill set, there are plenty of reasons to take a look at our extensive range of tiling courses here at YTA.

The skill of tiling walls and floors in such settings as kitchens, bathrooms and hotels remains a hugely in-demand one, and experienced tilers can earn as much as £38,000 a year. It’s certainly not a trade that will diminish in its relevance anytime soon, so it’s no wonder so many people are continuing to enquire about tiling courses like ours!

But surely, you couldn’t possibly expect to learn that much about tiling in just five days at our training centre? Take on our 5-day Cskills tiling Level 1 unit course, and you might just be very surprised by how thoroughly we prepare you for life as a professional tiler.

A typical tiler’s working week, condensed into one course

It is important to understand that our 5-day NOCN Cskills Level 1 unit tiling course does not, by itself, give you a full Level 1 qualification – you’ll need to enrol on our 10-day course for that. However, the certification you will receive on passing this course will be either the NOCN Cskills Level 1 Wall Tiling unit accreditation, or the NOCN Cskills Level 1 Floor Tiling unit accreditation.

Even such a unit accreditation on its own can be invaluable for showing future potential customers or employers that you have reached a certain level of competence in the tiling trade.

But this particular tiling course isn’t just designed to give you a useful certificate! That’s because it’s also been structured to resemble the kind of working week you might be able to expect if you do become a day-to-day tiling professional, as significant numbers of our students go on to do.

From the setting out of walls and floors and surface preparation, right through to the actual tiling of a kitchen splashback, bathroom wall or floor, and even cutting around obstacles and the use of adhesives and grouts, there’s a huge amount to learn about tiling.

If you’re looking for tiling courses that can introduce you to these skills even if you’re a complete beginner, this 5-day course is an excellent choice. But don’t worry if you do have some skills already, as we can tailor the course if needed for you, to ensure you don’t waste time on the course simply repeating what you can already do.

Get your New Year off to the most rewarding possible start

You can find out more about what you will be doing on each day of this 5-day course, by clicking through to the full course page on our website.

As you’ll see, even our 5-day tiling courses can compact a huge amount of learning into a short bracket of time, encompassing health and safety, surface preparation, tiling techniques, the right adhesives and grouts to use in various situations, silicone sealing and removal, and so much more.

We’ll even educate you on such things as starting up in business as a tiler, how to market your tiling business, and what further steps you can take to continue your tiling training. This is a highly purposeful and informative course – and given our reputation as a nationally renowned NVQ training centre, you can be sure that you definitely won’t be merely ‘going through the motions’ with us!

Reach out to our team today, and we’ll be pleased to answer any questions you may have about this or any of our other tiling courses, before you commit to booking a place. Who knows – this could be just the start of the most rewarding professional journey of your life!

Student returns 9 years later!

It was so lovely to have Denise back in YTA with her son 9 years after her first course. Denise originally attended our tiling course back in 2011 and has returned to complete a few more courses with her son’s in August and September leaving us with a lovely review on Google.

I did my first tiling course here over 9 years ago. I loved it! But I came out of the trades industry for a few years. Having recently started my new business as a tiler I wanted extra experience with what I’ll probably come across.

My son and I attended the 5 day plumbing course. Fantastic for both of us.

I have since attended a 2 day floor tiling course.

The instructors make this such a fun and relaxed atmosphere whilst maintaining safety and professionalism.

I feel the course prices are extremely reasonable and can’t wait to attend the 5 day joinery course in January 2021!

All safety measures are adhered to!

I haven’t bothered looking at anywhere else for my courses as YTA has it all!

They even sell tools at competitive prices too!

Thank you Denise for such a lovely 5 star review. It’s always great to see returning students and hear how well you’ve been doing. Looking forward to another catch up when you return for the joinery & carpentry course. Graham

10 days’ tiling training can take you all the way to a Level 1 qualification

We aren’t exactly short of tiling intensive courses here at YTA – indeed, you only need to spend one day with us to undertake a ‘taster’ course in this rewarding trade, while we also offer several options for five days of training to help get you ready for a career in tiling.

In this particular blog post, though, we’re focusing on how much you can get done in 10 days with us – and it turns out to be quite a lot!

Become the proud owner of a Level 1 tiling certificate

If you’re serious about entering tiling as a profession, there are good reasons to embark on a course that will give you a full qualification on successful completion – not least because it will allow you to more easily demonstrate to prospective customers or employers your competence in the trade.

The qualification in question that we give you the opportunity to earn is the NOCN Cskills 10-day Level 1 Certificate in Wall and Floor Tiling. Achieving it depends on you passing four Level 1 units focused on health and safety in construction trades, effective communication in construction trades, wall tiling and floor tiling.

What will you actually do on this course?

In a nutshell, you’ll learn everything that you need to get started as a confident professional tiler. That will naturally include – from the beginning of the first day – health and safety, followed by the preparation of surfaces and how to tile a kitchen.

As the first week of the course progresses, you will also be trained in such key matters as tile adhesives and grouts for different situations, tiling tools and tiling kits, and the various stages of bathroom tiling.

Then, you will have the chance to move onto a second week that will begin again with tiling a kitchen, but this time with a diamond splashback going up to funnel. You will later learn about tiling around a window inside and out, as well as such processes as tanking, plunge cutting and sealing.

Finally, on the last Friday of this second week, you will get to grips with the tiling of a bathroom floor, and whatever lingering questions you have can be answered ahead of the presentation of certificates.

All of the above will be complemented by the extra content that we are proud to incorporate into every YTA course. This includes the likes of full measuring and in-depth quoting, marketing techniques, business cards, how to advertise your services, and even insurance and business start-up.

Start your exciting new career in tiling today

Just think: you could soon be embarking on a journey that greatly shapes the rest of your professional life, when you simply get in touch with the YTA team about any of our tiling intensive courses.

But these courses – including the aforementioned 10-day Level 1 option – aren’t just acclaimed, as they are also in great demand, with available places routinely filling up quickly.

Don’t, then, miss out on your chance to secure a place on a date that works for you; book online or call 01274682199 now.

As an unskilled landlord I felt a little exposed due to the lack of plumbers out there doing small jobs, leaking sinks, new toilet inlets etc etc. I contacted YTA to bridge that gap a bit. After 5 days, I actually feel far more comfortable and I am actually going to tackle installing a bathroom. Very good, hands on training. Can be difficult to hear whats going on at times due to all trade training going on in the same room but I would definitely recommend them. I am actually going to do joinery, kitchen fitting and plastering too within the next 12 months.

Just finished the 5 day kitchen fitting course with Paul. I had very limited skills prior to this but have learnt loads and now feel totally competent to fully fit out my mums kitchen and utility room myself. Great course with very experienced tutor. Highly recommended. I'm going to do the plumbing course next. Thanks Paul and YTA.

Can't rate this place enough. I've done plumbing, plastering, and am about to finish a joinery course. The instructors are all very skilled in their respective trades and the class sizes are small enough that you have time to go at your own pace and really learn. All the instructors are very approachable and happy to answer questions, however stupid I thought they might sound. If you're considering a course here my advice is to do it. I started with virtually no practical skill at all and after each course I'm now confident that I can put these skills to good use in my house, and what I could produce by the end of each course is much better than what I've seen some tradesmen produce. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how much you'll learn at this place, even with no prior experience.

Finished my 10 day tiling course with Gary and it was superb.Considering I'd never laid a tile prior to starting the course and then to be tiling by 10am the morning is amazing and it's a credit to him, he has confidence in the people he's training even if they don't haha. Without thinking you just do it, he guides you along swimmingly.Gary, without saying it, recognises your pace and how confident or not you are and he goes with YOUR flow which I feel is correct.

I attended a 5 day plastering course .All the instructors are great and easy to get on with. Dave the plastering instructor is a top lad .Nothing to much trouble and really helpful.I’ve already started on my own house and the course definitely gave me the basics I needed to point me in the right direction.I would recommend Dave and all the staff to anyone thinking about having a go.I’m 61 served my time as a bricklayer straight from school but I wish I’d given plastering a shot years ago.Best thing I’ve done in a long time. Also ‘Bradford Digs’ great little place to stay.Cheers to all…Andy.
