Accredited course

17th June 2020 By Liz Spider

Just five days’ training could give you a tiling unit accreditation certificate!

With so much else having changed about all of our lives lately due to events outside of our control, it wouldn’t surprise us here at YTA if that vague wish you’ve long had to gain new skills or completely change career has become a firmer motivation to take those first steps.

If this describes you, you might have considered becoming a tiler, whether you have never learned a trade before, or you are already a tradesperson and simply wish to boost your prospects by expanding your wealth of skills.

Either way, signing up to one of our tiling courses – such as the five-day NOCN Cskills Level 1 unit Tiling Course – could be one of the wisest moves you make in 2020.

What’s included in this five-day course?

If you’re looking for a course that will give you a high level of tiling training in a short space of time so that you can get started with a career in this trade, this five-day Level 1 course should more than tick the boxes. In fact, you don’t need to have any prior tiling experience whatsoever – although if you do, we can adapt the course to your needs, to help you to get the most value from it.

In a nutshell, this course covers all of the key tiling essentials like the setting out of walls and floors, the preparation of surfaces, the actual tiling process, cutting around obstacles, and the correct use of adhesives and grouts to ensure you get the best results.

Know what this course is – and what it isn’t!

One thing important to note, though, is that as this is ‘only’ the five-day course, it is a unit accreditation certificate. This means that satisfying the criteria of the assessment will give you NOCN Cskills Level 1 unit accreditation in either wall tiling or floor tiling.

Such a unit accreditation certificate is great for showing potential customers or employers that you have reached a certain level of competence in tiling. It is not the same thing, however, as a full Level 1 qualification; for that, you will need to look to our 10-day course that would give you the opportunity to achieve a fully fledged NOCN Cskills Level 1 Certificate in Wall and Floor Tiling.

Nonetheless, our intensive five-day course can be an excellent start to anyone’s life as a tiler, providing a strong platform for a successful tiling career. Indeed, our most recent effectiveness poll found that 23 out of 30 former students were now self-employed tilers.

Our tiling courses here at YTA are renowned for how they allow people like you to embark on a new career as a tiler with a high level of both confidence and capability. So why not get in touch with our centre now to book your place on the right course for you, on a date to suit you, by calling 01274 682199 or 07400922788?

Plumbing Course – Video Review by Darren Clarke

We have had our first plumbing course video review! Darren Clarke, a gas fitter from Liverpool attended our 10 day plumbing level 1 plumbing course and here is his mid-course review after completing the first 5 days.

Whats Covered on the plumbing course:

The first 5 days will see you working with copper pipe and fixings, plumbing in a bathroom, a small 3 radiator system including thermostatic radiator valves, understanding different heating systems, plumbing in a kitchen sink including waste pipes plus plenty of fault finding and repair work throughout the week.

Darrens 10 day level 1 plumbing course was cut short due to COVID-19 but he will be returning for the second week (advanced plumbing course) at a later date.

5 Star Selfie!

A customer selfie and another fantastic 5 star review for YTA!

Had the best experience on the plumbing course, this is coming from a man who hasn’t attended a course in 20 years or so, so I was very nervous… Had the best tutors Graham & Lyndon who made the whole experience both enjoyable and very informative at the same time.. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to step out of their comfort zone and change direction in life I’ve learned so much these last 2 weeks thanks to all involved x

We are open for business

We are open for business and our courses are still running every week. Our training centre is a large 6500 sq foot, high ceiling well ventilated area with individual training bays AND tools per person. We have latex gloves and masks to wear if required along with hand-wash and cleaning wipes and we only teach small class numbers on average 5 per class.

All hands-on practical training out in the centre learning. Here’s a selection of photos taken this week and last week from the plumbing, tiling, carpentry and plastering courses.

If on the Government advice, businesses like ours are asked to close, we can re-schedule courses for a later date. With a little help and goodwill we will all get through this, we’ll support you, we ask you support us.

We do have a policy if you cant attend due to coronavirus which can be found here.

Book with confidence – COVID-19

Book a course with confidence – COVID-19

We are still open for business as usual but we are closely following advice from the government in keeping you safe.

If you book a course (pay a deposit / full payment) and are then unable to attend by the time your course start date comes around due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) then we will re-schedule your course for a later date in the year with no loss of your deposit/full payment..

These coming weeks will be a very worrying time for all businesses country wide as general footfall may decrease and we hope you will support us through this time.

Here’s what we will do:

  • Re-schedule any course or courses if you are unable to attend due to coronavirus without losing your deposit or full payment.
  • We have antibacterial hand-wash to use as frequently as you like
  • Everyone works/trains in their own training bays and do not share hand tools
  • We have disposable latex gloves around the training centre for everyone to use
  • All equipment and tools are cleaned down with antibacterial wipes
  • We will keep the total number of students and staff within our 6500 sq ft construction training centre to below 25 people.

I hope the above will help you book a course with confidence and together we can take each day as it comes.

If you have coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, the NHS link is HERE.

New 5 Star Google Review for YTA Training

A new 5 star google review for YTA has just been received. Jon spent several weeks at our training centre completing a few different courses. Tiling, plumbing, carpentry & joinery and kitchen fitting. Read the review below:

Cannot recommend this place enough…recently completed 2 weeks carpentry & joinery along with 2 weeks plumbing followed by a week of kitchen fitting course and tiling. The tutors are a real asset, the centre itself is well equipped and teaches you what you need to know to start off along with some inside trade tips. I recommend this to all starting out property developers out there or even Tradies wanted to branch out.

Thank you for the superb review Jon. Much appreciated. If you would like to read more independent reviews of YTA Training then you can also visit www.reviews.co.uk, our average score is 5 out of 5!

I'll be honest when I saw the advertisement and checked the place on google, I said another course to waste time, and contrary to having judged the place, the course was above my expectations, very practical, excellent teaching, I recommend 100 % five stars.

As an unskilled landlord I felt a little exposed due to the lack of plumbers out there doing small jobs, leaking sinks, new toilet inlets etc etc. I contacted YTA to bridge that gap a bit. After 5 days, I actually feel far more comfortable and I am actually going to tackle installing a bathroom. Very good, hands on training. Can be difficult to hear whats going on at times due to all trade training going on in the same room but I would definitely recommend them. I am actually going to do joinery, kitchen fitting and plastering too within the next 12 months.

Just finished the 5 day kitchen fitting course with Paul. I had very limited skills prior to this but have learnt loads and now feel totally competent to fully fit out my mums kitchen and utility room myself. Great course with very experienced tutor. Highly recommended. I'm going to do the plumbing course next. Thanks Paul and YTA.

Can't rate this place enough. I've done plumbing, plastering, and am about to finish a joinery course. The instructors are all very skilled in their respective trades and the class sizes are small enough that you have time to go at your own pace and really learn. All the instructors are very approachable and happy to answer questions, however stupid I thought they might sound. If you're considering a course here my advice is to do it. I started with virtually no practical skill at all and after each course I'm now confident that I can put these skills to good use in my house, and what I could produce by the end of each course is much better than what I've seen some tradesmen produce. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how much you'll learn at this place, even with no prior experience.

Finished my 10 day tiling course with Gary and it was superb.Considering I'd never laid a tile prior to starting the course and then to be tiling by 10am the morning is amazing and it's a credit to him, he has confidence in the people he's training even if they don't haha. Without thinking you just do it, he guides you along swimmingly.Gary, without saying it, recognises your pace and how confident or not you are and he goes with YOUR flow which I feel is correct.

I attended a 5 day plastering course .All the instructors are great and easy to get on with. Dave the plastering instructor is a top lad .Nothing to much trouble and really helpful.I’ve already started on my own house and the course definitely gave me the basics I needed to point me in the right direction.I would recommend Dave and all the staff to anyone thinking about having a go.I’m 61 served my time as a bricklayer straight from school but I wish I’d given plastering a shot years ago.Best thing I’ve done in a long time. Also ‘Bradford Digs’ great little place to stay.Cheers to all…Andy.
