What could you learn in just five days on our Level 1 intensive plumbing course?

It would be easy to imagine that a mere five days could never be enough time to move from zero experience or expertise in plumbing, to a position of confidence in undertaking such key plumbing tasks as changing taps, plumbing in kitchen sinks and even full bathroom replacements.

This, though, is perfectly possible when you take on YTA’s Level 1 intensive plumbing course in the UK – and not only that, but completing this route will also give you a nationally recognised qualification.

The course in question consists of two units; introduction to construction work, and carrying out plumbing operations. Achieve both units, and you will be able to attain the full qualification ‘Level 1 Award in Preparation for Plumbing Operations’, courtesy of Ascentis Awarding Organisation. This, in turn, will provide an invaluable platform for further training with YTA.

A hands-on introduction that will significantly boost your confidence

Some of those who enrol on our Level 1 intensive plumbing course in the UK are true novices with no prior background in plumbing or any other trade, while others are existing tradespersons – such as plasterers, tilers, joiners or kitchen fitters – who are interested in adding plumbing skills to their armoury. Thankfully, this acclaimed five-day course is excellently designed for all of these groups.

It all begins on the Monday, when students will get to grips with 15mm and 22mm copper pipe and fixings, as well as fitting isolation valves and pipe bending. Various fittings and tools will be used on this first day to produce pipework.

Tuesday, meanwhile, focuses on planning and installing a bathroom – encompassing such elements as the bath, taps, toilet, basin and all wastes. This day includes testing the installed bathroom up to mains working pressure, so that if any leaks are detected, they can be fixed.

All of this will be followed by a Wednesday that will look at toilets, including a full strip-down and explanation of internal cistern fittings and various types of flush mechanisms.

Come Thursday, you can expect to be installing a small two-radiator system – or three radiators, if your skills and the timeframe allow for this. Then, on Friday, you will be tasked with plumbing up a kitchen sink and hot and cold pipework. It is on this final day of the course that you will also be taking on your first job – the addition of a garden tap to your completed kitchen pipework.

You’ll struggle to find a finer intensive plumbing course in the UK

With this course having been designed to arm those enrolling with all of the knowhow and confidence they will require to start plumbing jobs straight after qualifying, when it comes to five-day plumbing courses, you can’t expect to find a more comprehensive option than this one.

And of course, extra content is also provided that features on every other YTA plumbing course, including ‘tricks of the trade’ and full measuring and in-depth quoting based on your full-size kitchens and bathrooms.

So, we would humbly suggest that you don’t hesitate to snap up your place on this highly respected and far-reaching course!

Call 01274 682199 now to book or ask any questions you may have about this Level 1 intensive plumbing course in the UK, including in relation to the latest available dates.

Could an NVQ Level 2 carpentry diploma be yours through the EWPA route?

Could an NVQ Level 2 carpentry diploma be yours through the EWPA route?

We may be home to a wide range of carpentry and joinery courses here at YTA – encompassing both five-day and 10-day options – but you don’t necessarily need to undertake any of these to significantly upgrade your qualifications.

That’s because, if you have already been a carpenter for five or more years, you could obtain a Cskills Awards NVQ Level 2 Carpentry Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) within the space of a day, when you pursue our fast-track assessment route. You can be up and running with site work in next to no time.

Requiring approximately one day of your time – or possibly two days – at our NOCN Cskills-approved centre in Yorkshire, our Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) option will allow you to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to achieve an NVQ Level 2. Your skills will be evaluated on the basis of professional discussion, witness testimonies and the practical assessment.

Indeed, there are three mandatory units that constitute this Site Carpentry NVQ Level 2, relating to the essential matters of general workplace safety, efficient work practices and the moving and handling of resources.

Carpentry NVQ level 2 assessment back
Carpentry NVQ level 2 assessment back
Carpentry NVQ level 2 assessment front
Carpentry NVQ level 2 assessment front

In addition to completing these units, you will be able to further support your bid for the NVQ Level 2 qualification by undertaking three optional units. With such subjects as the installation of first fixing components, the installation of second fixing components and the maintenance of non-structural carpentry work featuring in these units, they could be integral to your efforts to pass the EWPA route with YTA.

Complete all of the above to satisfaction, and you will be told at the end of the day that you have achieved the certificate, which will then be sent to you within 14 days, or perhaps even seven days. This, in turn, will enable you to apply for blue skilled worker CSCS card, so that you can get on site.

Enquire now about the joinery courses that best suit your needs as we touched on above, various carpentry and joinery courses are available here at YTA to suit different levels of skills, experience and ambition.

So, why not talk to us now to establish which of these paths represents the step you should take next in your career? Call the YTA team now on 01274 682199, and we’ll be able to clarify any uncertainties that you may have, as well as – if you are ready – take your booking.

Are you an experienced bricklayer looking to obtain a Level 2 NVQ diploma?

As renowned as we are here at YTA for the extensive selection of bricklaying courses that we offer to those of varying levels of knowhow in this trade, some of those who contact us already have considerable experience as bricklayers. They may therefore not feel the need to undertake an in-depth course covering aspects of this work in which they are already highly adept.

Such individuals may, however, still which to obtain the NVQ Level 2 diploma that would enable them to advance their careers – not least because having this qualification would allow them to obtain the blue skilled worker CSCS card that is necessary if they are to work as a bricklayer on site.

It is for such bricklayers that we offer the Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) route to obtaining the Cskills Awards Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations (Construction) QUA813 Bricklaying. This is a true fast-track assessment route, only requiring you to spend one day or – at most – two days at our West Yorkshire assessment centre.

What’s involved in this popular assessment route?

This Level 2 NVQ Level 2 EWPA route is designed for those with at least five years’ experience in their trade. It is based on an assessment of the skills that you have obtained over the years, as evaluated through professional discussion, witness statements and practical assessment.

There are five mandatory units that make up the bricklaying NVQ Level 2; these cover the elements of conforming to general workplace safety, conforming to efficient work practices, moving and handling resources, erecting masonry structures and setting out masonry structures.

Alongside these compulsory units, however, it is also necessary for those undertaking this route to pass one of a number of available optional units. These relate to such aspects of the profession as the erection of thin joint masonry structures in the workplace, the maintenance of slate and tile roofing in the workplace, the production of internal solid plastering finishes in the workplace, and many more.

Don’t wait any longer to take the next big step in your career

If you are confident that you possess the necessary experience and knowledge in the aforementioned units to pass the course, why not get in touch with the YTA team today?

When you do, we’ll be able to discuss the process with you and arrange for our NVQ bricklaying assessor to call you and complete a ‘skills scan’. Then, we’ll hopefully both be sure enough that it is worth your time, effort and investment to book a place on the formal EWPA route.

We undertake these assessments every week, including on weekends, so it shouldn’t be difficult for us to book a date that makes sense for you.

To learn more about this EWPA assessment route or any of our other bricklaying courses, simply call the YTA team now, on 01274 682199. We’ll help you to make the next big advance in your career as a bricklayer!

I'll be honest when I saw the advertisement and checked the place on google, I said another course to waste time, and contrary to having judged the place, the course was above my expectations, very practical, excellent teaching, I recommend 100 % five stars.

As an unskilled landlord I felt a little exposed due to the lack of plumbers out there doing small jobs, leaking sinks, new toilet inlets etc etc. I contacted YTA to bridge that gap a bit. After 5 days, I actually feel far more comfortable and I am actually going to tackle installing a bathroom. Very good, hands on training. Can be difficult to hear whats going on at times due to all trade training going on in the same room but I would definitely recommend them. I am actually going to do joinery, kitchen fitting and plastering too within the next 12 months.

Just finished the 5 day kitchen fitting course with Paul. I had very limited skills prior to this but have learnt loads and now feel totally competent to fully fit out my mums kitchen and utility room myself. Great course with very experienced tutor. Highly recommended. I'm going to do the plumbing course next. Thanks Paul and YTA.

Can't rate this place enough. I've done plumbing, plastering, and am about to finish a joinery course. The instructors are all very skilled in their respective trades and the class sizes are small enough that you have time to go at your own pace and really learn. All the instructors are very approachable and happy to answer questions, however stupid I thought they might sound. If you're considering a course here my advice is to do it. I started with virtually no practical skill at all and after each course I'm now confident that I can put these skills to good use in my house, and what I could produce by the end of each course is much better than what I've seen some tradesmen produce. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how much you'll learn at this place, even with no prior experience.

Finished my 10 day tiling course with Gary and it was superb.Considering I'd never laid a tile prior to starting the course and then to be tiling by 10am the morning is amazing and it's a credit to him, he has confidence in the people he's training even if they don't haha. Without thinking you just do it, he guides you along swimmingly.Gary, without saying it, recognises your pace and how confident or not you are and he goes with YOUR flow which I feel is correct.

I attended a 5 day plastering course .All the instructors are great and easy to get on with. Dave the plastering instructor is a top lad .Nothing to much trouble and really helpful.I’ve already started on my own house and the course definitely gave me the basics I needed to point me in the right direction.I would recommend Dave and all the staff to anyone thinking about having a go.I’m 61 served my time as a bricklayer straight from school but I wish I’d given plastering a shot years ago.Best thing I’ve done in a long time. Also ‘Bradford Digs’ great little place to stay.Cheers to all…Andy.
