Excellent Multiple Courses YTA Review.

We have received an excellent multiple courses YTA review from an ex student after completing several courses. Nigel completed Tiling, Carpentry, Plumbing, Plastering, Bricklaying and Kitchen Fitting courses at YTA over several weeks and has since completed various projects including installing 3 bathrooms whilst renovating his properties as a landlord and is now completing his second kitchen installation. You can read his review of YTA and our tutors below:

Nigel Hammond YTA review

I attended a suite of YTA courses including Tiling, Carpentry, Plumbing, Plastering, Bricklaying and Kitchen Fitting. I was a novice, working in IT, with little more experience than the odd DIY job. I have used all the training as a landlord, renovating a few properties. I’ve installed 3 bathrooms (includes all appliances , tiling, and flooring), and I’m currently installing my 2nd kitchen (again involving plenty of plumbing, tiling, woodwork etc). As well as numerous other DIY tasks, around the place. I understand this would be a small fortune to pay tradespeople to do. I’ve done it myself, thanks to skills and confidence developed as a result of attending YTA courses, instructed by the excellent tutors Lorry, Dave, and Graham. I also gained a great deal of knowledge surrounded by industry trades people, also cross-training across disciplines. A very helpful perspective. I’ve plenty to learn in maintaining properties, but I think its helpful to get a good grounding in what is a multi-discipline/skill set of tasks. Many thanks to tutors and course colleagues.I recommend to anyone who wants to have a go and do a good job, and some might say, professional.

Thank you Nigel for an excellent 5 star multiple courses YTA review. It’s always lovely to see students put their training and skills to good use following the courses.

Could an NVQ Level 2 carpentry diploma be yours through the EWPA route?

Could an NVQ Level 2 carpentry diploma be yours through the EWPA route?

We may be home to a wide range of carpentry and joinery courses here at YTA – encompassing both five-day and 10-day options – but you don’t necessarily need to undertake any of these to significantly upgrade your qualifications.

That’s because, if you have already been a carpenter for five or more years, you could obtain a Cskills Awards NVQ Level 2 Carpentry Diploma in Wood Occupations (Construction) within the space of a day, when you pursue our fast-track assessment route. You can be up and running with site work in next to no time.

Requiring approximately one day of your time – or possibly two days – at our NOCN Cskills-approved centre in Yorkshire, our Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) option will allow you to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to achieve an NVQ Level 2. Your skills will be evaluated on the basis of professional discussion, witness testimonies and the practical assessment.

Indeed, there are three mandatory units that constitute this Site Carpentry NVQ Level 2, relating to the essential matters of general workplace safety, efficient work practices and the moving and handling of resources.

Carpentry NVQ level 2 assessment back
Carpentry NVQ level 2 assessment back
Carpentry NVQ level 2 assessment front
Carpentry NVQ level 2 assessment front

In addition to completing these units, you will be able to further support your bid for the NVQ Level 2 qualification by undertaking three optional units. With such subjects as the installation of first fixing components, the installation of second fixing components and the maintenance of non-structural carpentry work featuring in these units, they could be integral to your efforts to pass the EWPA route with YTA.

Complete all of the above to satisfaction, and you will be told at the end of the day that you have achieved the certificate, which will then be sent to you within 14 days, or perhaps even seven days. This, in turn, will enable you to apply for blue skilled worker CSCS card, so that you can get on site.

Enquire now about the joinery courses that best suit your needs as we touched on above, various carpentry and joinery courses are available here at YTA to suit different levels of skills, experience and ambition.

So, why not talk to us now to establish which of these paths represents the step you should take next in your career? Call the YTA team now on 01274 682199, and we’ll be able to clarify any uncertainties that you may have, as well as – if you are ready – take your booking.

Carpentry & Joinery course review at YTA – Philip Porter

”I would definitely recommend” is what Philip Porter had to say following the completion of the 10 day carpentry and joinery course. Please see below the carpentry and joinery course review at YTA.

I attended the 10 day joinery course in October 19. The course was well presented with all the materials and tools available. Lawrence, the teacher was always there for you and as the classes were small he could spend plenty of time with each student. He explained and demonstrated clearly and you could tell he was a master craftsman. There was tea, coffee and biscuits available all day. I feel confident taking my skills out on to site now. I would definitely recommend and I’ll hopefully be doing other courses in time.

Thank you for such a great review Philip of your time at YTA whilst completing the 10 day carpentry and joinery course. Much appreciated.

Thanks again.
From the YTA Team

Kitchen worktop course review

Another great review following the completion of the kitchen worktop course.

Really great little course. Gave me the confidence and built on my existing skills. Just what I needed.

Thank you for the 5 star review Chris. Very much appreciated.

The aim of the 2 day worktop course will be to fit a worktop professionally. You will use a router and worktop jig to create the worktop ‘masons mitre’ fitment into a corner area. You will also cut out for a kitchen sink and fit the kitchen sink.

To book on the next available worktop course you can either check the available dates on the website or call the centre on 01274682199 to book.

YTA 1 day Plumbing Course Review

A new 5 star recent review following the completion of the YTA 1 day plumbing course.

I really enjoyed my day plumbing! I went into it with a general fear of plumbing, but I couldn’t believe how much we learnt – working in copper, plastic, solder. The tuition was brilliant – structured, approachable and informative. I’m going to try to book on for more!

Many thanks for the prompt review following the completion of the 1 day plumbing course today Lindsay. Another 5 star YTA review! Very much appreciated. I’m glad you enjoyed the course and we look forward to seeing you on the more courses.

During the 1 day plumbing taster course you will cover the below topics:

  • Use compression joints, end feed (soldering joints) and pipe bending techniques.
  • Work with copper and plastic pipe
  • Fit kitchen sink taps and waste
  • Plumb in a kitchen sink and test up to full working pressure

The 1 day plumbing taster course can be suited to your requirements, if you would just like to ‘have a go’ at plumbing and see how you get on then we can devise a taster day. You can plumb in a kitchen sink or work with pipework and use professional tools and equipment. Spend a day at YTA on the 1 day plumbing taster course and get to grips with learning basic pipefitting skills to plumbing in a small project such as a radiator or a kitchen sink.

To book on the next available 1 day plumbing course at YTA please call the centre on 01274682199.
